American Girl dolls are growing in popularity and many young girls are delighted to adopt one of these toys into their collections. The dolls are designed for young ladies around the age of eight to twelve but I know some grown up girls that would find these items to be true treasures as well.
There is good reason for the popularity of these brilliant toys. Not only does the child (or collector) receive a beautiful and well crafted doll, she also receives a story as well. Following are examples of American Girl dolls that are on the market today. You are sure to find at least one that stands out as the perfect choice for your child.
The best approach to finding the right American Girl doll for your child is to browse through the selection and have her tell you which ones are outstanding to her. There are so many to choose from that the process of picking just one is a little difficult. It is important that this one American Girl doll is just right for your young lady.
There are basically two fundamental choices to make. Do you want to choose an American Girl doll that is accompanied with a historical story or do you want one that allows your child to make a story of her own. Either way, you are assured to receive a magnificent present that your child will never forget.
The dolls that are accompanied by a historical story come in many different forms. You can choose a Native American Girl doll or a Victorian doll, or even one that represents life on the range. The choice depends on your child’s interests and tastes and I’m sure that any little girl will communicate what she really likes.
Not only do the American Girl dolls teach children about history, people and events; they also teach children about values, behavior and aspirations. These teaching vehicles are wonderful and motivating resources for learning about making priorities and working towards doing the right thing. The dolls and their stories serve as examples.
Creative young ladies may want to choose from the modern American Girl dolls that are designed around their own features. You can choose a doll that has the same features, skin color, hair color and eye color as your own child. This will help her really relate to the doll. In addition, your child can share stories with her new friend.

Amalfi Coast
The area between Naples and Salerno in Campania, Italy is a popular tourist destination. Known as the Amalfi Coast, it contains towns, scenic harbors and historic sights. The Romans were amongst the first to settle there in the first century when the wealthy built their villas. Today, the economy is boosted by tourism and there is still a thriving fishing industry.
UNESCO has included this coastline as a World Heritage Site because of its scenic beauty and cultural heritage. Modern amenities are world class too with the best in restaurants, bars and shops. Many companies arrange packages, providing accommodation, car hire and transfers from and to Rome and Naples airports.
Official guides arrange excursions to archeological sights and places of historical interest. Hiking and trekking tours of the Amalfi Coast can also be arranged and wedding packages are also popular. Accommodation is varied and includes hotels, villas, bed and breakfast places and apartments. There is also a selection of hostels and camping grounds.
The town of Amalfi has a beautiful cathedral that contains the tomb of Saint Andrew. This saint is significant to the Amalfi Coast, being its patron and there is an annual Festival of Saint Andrew to commemorate him with a parade and a fireworks display. Ravello is famous as the host town of the Wagner Festival, which started in 1953. Richard Wagner had visited the town and greatly admired it. In addition to performances of his music, there are jazz concerts, art shows, dance performances and photography exhibitions. The most fashionable small town, and one associated with visiting celebrities, is Positano. Its church, Santa Maria Assunta contains a 13th century statue of a black Madonna.
Capri is a long standing resort and has had many famous residents from the world of show business and the arts. It received a playboy paradise reputation in the 1950s and it has plenty up market boutiques and restaurants. Tourists like to see its historic past and the ruins of Roman villas. The most famous landmark is the Blue Grotto, a sea cave that visitors can see on boat tours, marveling at the wonderful blue of the water. Sorrento is a small city on the Amalfi Coast and is also popular with tourists wanting a luxury hotel. It's a good base to go on boat excursions or to scuba dive in the clear Mediterranean. The major beaches are lively in the evenings with seafood restaurants and disco bars.
